Stratum:   Foundation of wall 245. Continuation of B39: cobbles, tile fragments and some pebble mosaic fragments in a slightly lighter reddish-brown loosely-packed soil.
Notes:   B40 is a continuation of the exact same location as B39. As the soil in W245 has turned reddish-brown, we have changed baskets, but continue to excavate W245 as in B39. the wall foundations here are the same, gravel, cobbles, pebbles and a mix of roof tiles. Fragments of the same pebble mosaic also appear in the stratum.
