Stratum:   Fill E of wall 294: compact fine silty sand of yellowish-brown color. Inclusions of small to medium pebbles with a few small cobbles. Large amounts of plaster found.
Notes:   After completing the excavation of B57, it appeared that the remains of a wall run perpendicular to wall 294 to the edge of the the eastern scarp. This wall appeared to divide two similar soil types. On the S side, the soil had much larger concentrations of plaster. Therefore this B was seperately from the other stratum. It seems that the wall perpendicular to wall 294 was reduced and then fill dumped over top of it to make the ground level. The excavation of this basket determined that, outside of ca. 0.30 m of wall running E-W, this small wall has completely disappeared.
A small and large pick were used.
Large amounts of plaster were found on the western side of the B, less on the E side. Some terracotta tile and one marble tile were also found. Clod of whitish-yellowish grey clay-like material with myriad inclusions. Perhaps this is some kind of building material.
B was closed due to a soil change.
