Corinth Basket: NB977 B62 P147
Collection:   Corinth
Type:   Basket
Name:   NB977 B62 P147
Area:   Panaghia north
Category:   Basket/zembil
Notebook:   977
Context:   62
Page:   147
Date:   2006/05/29
Stratum:   Fill south of RT 215, north of Pit 2005-1. Soil is light whitish brown sandy clay with 50% pebbles, 30% cobbles, loosish.
Notes:   B 62 is the excavation of the area directly east of B 61. However, the basket is higher than B 61 and it looks as if B 61 will run under B 62. It runs south of Robbing Trench 215 and north of the Pit 2005-01, and west of the drain trench running through this area. This basket (unless there is a soil change) will cover a large extent of the trench and hopefull aid in identifying the nature of the soil and its deposits. It appears that we have come down on a floor, at least in the western edge of the trench where the walls intersect. It is difficult to see if wall 289 cut thorugh the floor or if the floor abuts the walls. Moreover, it should be noted that its upper surface appears to be at a similar elevation as the road to the west.. On the northern ege of the trench, approximately 1.3 m west of the drain line, we found the head of a clay spoon. On the western side of the trench we seem to have come upon a more compact clay-like layer. We will dig this separately. Thus we are clsoing this basket. We found glass and a clay spoon. See top plan pg. 148.
