Notes:   Basket 23 is the removal of a greyish brown layer in the NE quadrant of the grid, that appears to be sitting on top of the reddish brown soil described in B20 and B22. The depth of the greyish brown layer seems to increase towards the E baulk, In the NE corner after one pass some greenish clay clods appeared and a piece of mudbrick was found.
