Stratum:   Tile lined pit
Notes:   The matrix of this basket is medium brown sandy silt, weakly cemented with 20% pebbles. B 85 is the removal of the fill of approximately half of a tile lined pit. The top of the pit was first noted at the end of B 81. Through scraping it was determined that the tile at the southern most edge of the pit was passing under the cement floor (B 85). When the cement floor was removed, the southern perimeter of an oval shaped pit was revealed. It is assumed that the pit was cut into the matrix that was under the cement floor. An estimated half of the pit seems to be under the E baulk and therefore no clear suggestions could be made about its function. The soil of this basket was dry sieved.
