| Notes: | B 60 is the removal of the 1st course of wall 215. We are beginning to remove this wall because it is unknown how far north the sarcophagus and its dug pit extend. Within this wall we are finding pieces of plaster as well as small bits of bronze. We have decided to continue dismantling the wall down until there is a change in construction or another significant find or feature. We found a Geometric sherd in the wall at elevation 91.20 (402.90 E, 968.20 N). We are also finding many tiles in the wall. Additional Geometric sherds were found in the wall at elevations of 90.81 and 90.99 (marked on plan). Also we have found pieces of columns and worked moldings (sketched on pg. 115). Also we have found pieces of columns and worked molding (sketched on pg 115). There was one zambil of tiles: 27 fragments (W. 8.5 kg). After removing several courses of stones, we have come down on another which looks to be at the level of the lid of the sarcophagus. The wall may have cut inot the sarcophagus and its pit. We are stopping this basket and moving to expose more of the pit to the south of Wall 215. One of the architectural columns appears to be faceted and may be Geometric and possibly a grave marker (A 2006-1). We sieved 100%. | |
