excavated with small pick, triangle, small shovel,
dry
Notes:   We originally had no fixed points, so we made a grid from a nail (N2) from a previous excavation where the coordinates were known. We used a "dumpy level" to obtain the top and bottom elevations, and also used this nail as a fixed point for a grid for purpses of drawing, and used tape measures to fill in corrdinates of context. We will later set up total station oordinates to get a more exact location. \we have found several pieces of glass and a nail. \we are excavating this basket to expose the top of the skeleton. \we have determined that this grave is south and east of bruials 24A-B, south of 25A-B, west of 69 and 37 and northwest of 23. PK is using a small pick, triangle, brush and dental tools to excavate. This grave fill is a simple cut dug into a more pebbly light reddish brown soill. A terracotta object was found which seems form a gamma-shape with ridges resembling drapery. Another larger stone (?) object with large ridges on it was also in the fill. GS has suggested that due to the size of the skull, we may be excavating above a small or young person. GS has also commented hat the orintation of the skull, as well as the presence of wood in the fill could indicate a Muslim burial. As we get closer to the skeleton we are findng small bits of charcol. We are changing contexts because we are coming upon the skeleton.
