Notes:   Removal of the soil first revealed at the close of basket 22. This basket revealed a small amount of pottery as well as a loom weight, a lead weight, and a single coin. In addition, we also revealed the continuation of the pressed pebble mosaic floor first revealed in basket 23. This mosaic goes partially over the north-south foundation course that appears to communicate with W 297. This basket made the orientation of these blocks more clear. The mosaic is cut on the west by the diamond tile pool and at its northwest corner by the even associated with the fill removed as basket 23. The mosaic is cut to the southeast by a cutting associated with an amphora (NB 973 B ). The eastern edge of the mosaicis still preserved . A cutting into this mosaic in the southeast had a high percentage of ash in it. A layer of sub floor containing a large amount of cobbles is also visible beneath the mosaic. We closed the basket when we reached the level of the mosaic and the level of the blocks of the north-south foundation course. The basket was momentarily stopped for the removal of basket 32 in order to avoid any contamination. We have named the north-south foundation course W 302.
