Title:   Room 1- Cleaning West of Wall 18
Category:   Deposit
Notebook:   1111
Context:   17
Date:   2016/05/31
Stratum:   Mixed soil: reddish and greyish brown. Some ceramic material and little rocks. Also roots and a piece of schist.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is hard. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silt.
Notes:   We opened context 17 in order to clean the area. Soil was mixed with reddish brown patches just beneath the uppermost layer that had been exposed since last year. There were rocks close to the NW corner between wall 11 and the cistern. Not very much pottery, only 1 pail. Two large nails and a strip of metal, possibly a knife blade, were found. In terms of depth, we stopped excavating this context once we came upon flat-lying tile sherds (some of which were already visible before excavation to the very North along wall 11).
