Description:   Structure materials: one squared limestone block atop 3 courses of roof tiles bonded with mudbrick [context 6475]. Material size: squared block= 1.09 m x 0.52 m x 0.23 m. Material finish: squared. Material construction: n/a. Material bonding: mudbrick. Features: underlying tile and revetment levelling courses.
Structure materials: One squared limestone block atop three courses of foof tiles bonded with mudbrick.. Material size: Squared block=1.09m x 0.52 x 0.23; ave tile=0.15m. Material finish: Squared. Material construction: n/a. Material bonding: mudbrick. Features: tile courses incorporate reused marble floor parin.
Notes:   AC, 10 February 2009: This feature is being recorded as part of a plan to apply to have walls removed in this par tof th esite in order to reveal the 11th c AD phase of a house for public display. This wall was revealed by excavations in 1961 recorded in NB 229. It was recorded as part of wall #27 in 1961. This threshold is well preserved, probably due to the use of mudbrick as a bonding material. The surface of the threshold block has a rectangular cutting at its N end to accommodate a door jamb. The large squared block immediately to the north of the threshold has also been cut at this point, suggsting that the threshold and the wall this block is part of (10078) are contemporary structures. Anathyrosis is preserved on the eastern face of the threshold block, confirming that it is reused from an earlier structure in the area. This threshold would have provided communication between spaces to the west and east of it, prior to the construciton of walls 10076 and 10077, which abut it and wall 10078.
Additional notes, 26-05.09, S.L.: There are two squared blocks set on top of the threshold block, which are entirely floating and which do not possess any bonding material between them or between them and the threshold block; they will be removed at the same time that the threshold itself is removed, but are not viewed as part of this deliberate construction; their interpretation will be incidental 1960s placement, having been excavated from somewhere else.
Additional notes, 27-5-09: Removed block and underlying foundations today; separate contexts were delineated for levelling tile 6475 and foundation 6476.
