This wall is being recorded as part of a plan to apply to have walls removed in this part of the site in order to reveal the 11th century AD phase of a house for public display. This wall is associated with the 11th century phase so will not be removed. This wall was revealed during excavations in 1961 recorded in NB 229. It was not given a 1961 wall number, but referred to as the "return of wall 34", see NB 229 pg. 188. In Travlos' plan, this wall begins at the east at wall 10087 at the entry to the house from the street and continues westward all the way to the east boundary of the 11th century courtyard of the house. However, the wall is currently in a very poor state of preservation and the middle of the wall (west of the junction with wall 10095) is not extant. Though it is possible that this portion of the wall was removed during excavation, it is worth noting that the width of wall 10090 at its east end is 0.67m where as the width of the portion of wall where it meets the courtyard to the west is only 0.53m. Perhaps cleaning and excavation in the area where the wall is not extant would clarify and prove that the two segments are part of the same wall. For now, I am only recording information for the eastern extant segment.
