Context:   1012

Date:   2013/04/09
Stratum:   5% inclusions; tile, ceramic sherds, small rounded pebbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the SE. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We opened this context in order to continue clearing the baulk immediately outside and south of the Turkish house, to explore stratigraphic relationships between this area and the area inside the house. This dumped fill was cut by the cut filled with context 495 and was laid on top of the soil immediately below Context 1005, and seems to be of the same consistency. We will remove this soil as the next step, in Context 1013. Since the soil in 1005 and 1013 are very similar, this context seems to be a small lens in that fill. We closed this context upon reaching the dark, yellow brown soil below, which was less firm than this layer.
