Description: | The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes: | We begin excavating 1014 since it seems to be a robbing trench cutting floor 961, which is our primary goal. We begin at the W end of wall 992 to see whether the soft blacker soil there is the same as that along the S face of the wall. RV notes that sediment at this W end is harder and drier because context has been exposed since last year's season. We finished this W area and decided to give a separate context number to the soft dark fill S of wall 992.
