Description:   The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Upon completion of trench 1015 and hearth 960 (=deposit 1021) we proceed with removal of floor 961 as deposit 1022. It has been exposed in parts since the end of last year's season, with other parts exposed this season by contexts.
Because it is a floor we screen 100%; we also take two separate samples for water sieving: one is the NE part of the floor, and the second ito the SW, W of hearth 960/1021, to compare the different areas of the space and as a control for the sample from the hearth.
The sediment below the hearth is still softer than that surrounding; we should in future excavate this separately.
Not surprisingly, there is relatively little pottery or bone from the excavation of the floor. HG notes presence of plaster. Tasos finds coin 2013-46 in situ.
Ca. 1 m. N of hearth 960/1021. Tasos finds an area of softer, darker sediment that extends N.
