Stratum:   20%; tile, medium to coarse pebbles, glass, iron, plaster, part of a terracotta figurine, rim of a bronze vessel, charcoal
Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the W. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   This is a very thin (ca. 10 cm) layer overlying a hard packed flat surface. We began to dig it to learn more about the context into which pit 1110 was dug. It contains more tile and lime refuse. We are sifting 50% in order to be more vigilant about finding coins. The fill is much darker in its northern half with slighlty lighter and siltier soil and the surface below is less level.
After deposit 1111 was removed, it seemed less likely that there is actually a surface beneath. While the earth is fairly level to the SW of the context, it becomes more uneven to the E (closer to the pit 1110). Without a change in soil quality and inclusions. The context ended when we reached the packed level beneath 1111.
