Stratum:   among the inclusions were: sub-rounded small stones (c.60% stone inclusions); pottery; bone.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   1141 was a deposit below 1140, the "shelf" below the "Disappointment Rock." It was dark reddish brown and moderately compact, and might have served as a floor hemmed in by walls 851, 746, 5334, and 1138. It produced a good amount of pottery including many diagnostic pieces. Also found were iron nails (2) and a lead wheel. For this reason, we decided to dry sieve 50% of the context in order to produce as thorough an assessment as possible. The removal of 1141 revealed the foundation trench for Wall 851.
