Stratum:   More pieces of burnt, carbonized remains; plaster, flakes of paint from undersides of ceramic fragments; inclusions c.10%
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey sand. Truncation: yes: volume 10 L; 100% of context kept. Material bonding: -1.
Notes:   Possible that our two small ceramic sherds from this deposit were associated with cooking pot.
Significant amounts of carbonized remains, mixed into paint flakes and plaster, suggests burning.
Once the sample is examines (100% of 1190), we should better understand the relation of this deposit to the tile structure above it and the clay floor (partially) below.
If the tile feature 1182 is a proper construction, then 1190 probably represents a construction/packing fill deposited during the construction of 1182. To take a skeptical view, except for the fact that we had more carbon preserved under the tiles, the deposit 1190 was very similar to deposit 1181, which overlaid the tiles-- perhaps 1190, together with 1181, represents a dump fill, with the various tiles and perirhanterion fragments simply thrown in over the fragmented clay floor 1184. However, this view may be dismissed as the placement of the tiles seems very deliberate, and too markedly set out to attribute to a dump fill. Therefore, it is most likely that this level was a leveling/packing fill prior to the construction of 1182.
