Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light reddish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Context 340 is a silty fill that overlies a surface we can see to the N. Test scraping has shown this same surface lies under the fill dug as context 340. This seems to be a very shallow lense of fill.
340 comes down on the surface we see to the N and W as well as a soft patch near wall 313. This soft patch apears to be a pit cut into th esurface and against wall 313.
It's probable hat 340 is the same fill as 344 to the W. We are thinking that these may not be simply fill on the surface but rough resurfacings that have only survived in patches.
