| Notes: | 429: A hard light reddish brown sandy clay with inclusions of tile, ceramics, angular/subangular pebbles, and shell (snail). This deposit is E of the exposed section of 420. G.S. considers all of the deposits in this area related to flooding and collapse (destruction) of a structure. Notably we do not have walls that can be shown to confine or associate with whatever the collapse and flooding events are. Beneath this dep we come across a softer darker soil. The N edge is a red layer that was cut by 429. There is no evidence of wall 420 or a robbing trench. Pottery - 1 possible frankish contamination? | |
