Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Context 456 is bounded on the S by robbing trench 451 and on the E by B54. We are excavating this area to further clarify the stratigraphy of the larger area. We hope to find the black soil that has been running under the contexts to the N of this context. We have also just revealed what we think might be a hearth to the NW of this context and perhaps we will reveal more information about this hearth and its relationship with the other contexts under 456.
Panos revealed a mound of reddish soil (possibly mud brick) in the SE corner of 456. To the S of this reddish soil, Panos thinks that he has found the cut for the foundation trech of the E extension of wall 366, but we are not certain of this and will need to investigate further at a later time. To the W of the reddish soil was revealed a less reddish brown soil and two large flat stones that were fully revealed at the extreme SW of the context. [They had been partially visible in the preexisting excavation scarp.] To the N of the context Panos revealed the black soil we have been looking for in this area.
We closed this context when we removed all the mixed soil. Because of the proximity of this context with robbing trench 452 and B54 we think that this context might be dumped soil from the robbing activity. In general the area we have been digging is characterized by patches of different types of soil and we think that they are related to robbing activities.
