Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark brownish grey. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   This context is the excavation of the fill that has accumulated on top of the pebble surface that has been exposed with the removal of 487 on its northernmost part. The excavation of the context showed tha this was not a pit as we thought. It seems that the pebbly surface continues in this area but in a lower elevation. The reason that the pebbly surface is so disturbed and has a further depression might be because of the existance of a pit underneath or due to the scarp from the 1960s excavation. It should be noted that this area of excavation was on a lower elevation than the previous turkish layers because of terracing (see boundary wall removed with C272). This would explain the uneven surface of the pebbly floor.
We think that the pebbly surface is the same as the surface uncovered south of C272.
