Description:   The context shape in plan is circular. The top break of the cut is sharp. The sides of the cut are vertical.
Notes:   Context 493 is the cut for the construction of the well structure 495 found in the NW corner of Nezi field, north of cut 272 and south of the Turkish house. The cut for the well was identified with the excavation of contexts 490 and 491. At the time of the excavation of the contexts 490 and 491 and after the removal of the fill 492 we thought that the cut was for a pit. With the excavation of the second-from-top fill deposit, which ended up being the collapsed well, we uncovered the stones that dressed the walls of the well. The cut for the pit, 493, predates the construction of the well 495 (dressing of walls with stones). The well was filled by context 492, which postdates the collapse of the well (494). The excavation of the fill of the well was not completed, but it was decided to stop excavation for reasons of time and safety. As such the bottom of the strcture and the cut remain unknown.
The cut for the well is visible at the palces where the stones have collapsed. It should be noted that the well was not cut into a compacted soil and it has not always been easy to distinguish the fills from the walls of the pit.
