| Stratum: | Dark greenish red with patches of light yellowish red. 40% inclusions, some large broken tiles. Some carbon in the soil. | |
| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the S. Bottom slope of the context is slight down to the SThe soil color is mixed. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt. | |
| Notes: | We removed the layer of greenish fill that was lying over a layer of reddish soil at the bottom of the channel. B5010 does not run for the entire length of the channel - it is limited to the N 3/5 of it. In removing this soil we saw that at the bottom elevation of B5010, the drain walls end and sit on the earth below. The soil has carbon in it. We are closing this basket because we have reached the bottom of the drain fill. The drain has no floor. We excavated a depression in this basket, following the line of the soil. Bottom elevation is from the bottom of this depression. | |
