Stratum:   The soil contains some patches of light yellowish brown clay and patches of ashes mixed with chunks of charcoal.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. Bottom slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   B5089 is a pass along the eastern two thirds of the room N of room F, E. It is a layer which contains clay chunks and burned ashes. It probably overlies the destruction layer uncovered in B5086 in the W side of the room, so excavating it should reveal more of the destruction layer. During excavation it is noted that the tile fragment layer is continuing underneath Wall 24 (NB 228) to the N. It therefore seems that Wall 24 (NB 228) was built after the destruction occurred. It is decided to finish the pass and then remove Wall 24 (NB 228). A significant number of coins is recovered both from excavating and during dry sieving. The basket is stopped about a meter away from Wall 21 (NB 228) because there is a change in the soil color.
