Stratum:   B5140 contains ca. 2-5% small angular pebbles.
Description:   Top slope of the context is level. Bottom slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   B5140 was revealed by B5114. When excavating B5138 the bottom most layer revealed a layer of ashes that extended to the S of wall 23 (NB228). It is noted that this layer continued below the bottom of B5114 in a section that was attached to wall 23 on its S side and was initially thought to be part of a foundation trench for the wall. The purpose of B5140 is to remove the soil that covers the layer which contains the ashes. This layer with ashes is the same one that was revealed by B5110 to the N of wall 23 (NB228).
Note: Due to a mix up of the zembils that were meant to be sieved, the pottery of B5140 has been combined with the pottery of B5141.
