Context:   514

Date:   2009/05/08
Lot:   Lot 2009-060
Stratum:   40 % large angular pebbles, cobbles
Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the S. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clay.
Notes:   Pit fill 514 appears to be redeposited mudbrick in the fill of a large pit cut the floor associated with walls 313 and 332. The later pit cut 513 is made through this mudbrick deposit, which in turn rests against the east wall of an larger earlier pit (cut 527). The formation of this deposit is a bit confusing as it slopes toward the south and the cut that it preserves was not discernable in the deposit that overlaid the lowest elevation of the mudbrick deposit 514. Once the redeposited mudbrick pit fill 514 was removed, the full eastern extent of the larger pit cut was revealed, as well as the deposit with carbon inclusions that formed the bottom of the cut 510 and 513.
Later notes, 18 May 2009, SD/JC
It was only after further excavation that we were able to identify context 514 as the first fill from top of pit cut 527, and also understand the chronological relationship between cut 527 and cut 526 and 528.
