Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is poorly sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 518 is the excavation of the first from the top fill of pit cut 526. The pit is located in the room bounded by walls 313 to the East and 332 to the west. The pit was truncated by 513 and possibly by 517. The different elevations of the cuts and the state of preservation make the understanding of the chronological relationship of the various pits difficult. It is possible that the elevation of the cut of the pit was higher than what has been identified now and it was truncated first by 517 and then by 513.
The removal of the pit fill deposit 518 revealed a sloping ashy deposit that is also laid against the southern edge of the cut that contained deposit 518. We had expected a semicircular cut to be revealed as the answering northern edge of the southern edge of the cut revealed by the removal of the later pit fill 516. However, the slope of the ashy deposit revealed cannot allow for this function and it appears that the pit fill deposit 518 and the ashy deposit beneath it are both fills of a pit that is truncated to the north by the pit cut that is filled by the deposit with carbon inclusions that formed the bottom of the pit cut 510 and 513.
