Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Context 521 is the excavation of a pit fill that has been exposed with the removal of context 518 in the room bounded by wall 313 to the east and 332 to the west. The relationship of 521 with the contexts 518, 518, 520 is not clear yet. Context 521 was at the bottom of cut 513. The north side of 521 was cut by 519. Contexts 518 and 521 were abutting each other. Context 520 does not seem to have a direct stratigraphic relationship with 521 apart from the fact that context 520 is earlier than 521.
The removal of 521 revealed two different types of soil. A more compact, silty soil was revealed on the north side. A dark, loose soil with many inlcusions of pottery, tiles and bones, was revealed on the south side. It seems that the dark soil with the inclusions at the south cuts into the more compacted soil to the north. This would make the soul to the south later than the compact soil to the north, directly south of context 521 there is a sloping ashy deposit which was revealed with the excavation of context 518. It appears that the soil with the inlcusions that was revealed at the bottom of 521 goes underneath the layer of ash revealed at the bottom of 518.
We decided to close this context and proceed with the excavation of the deposit to the west.
