| Description: | Top slope of the context is slight down to the NW. The soil color is dark brownish black. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | Start taking Context 5221, which is a looser, darker brownish black over a redder soil to the N, which has inclusions but is more compact. To the south we come down on a looser dark brown soil with many inclusions. Tiles were not kept at first so the tile count and weight is only approximately 30% of the tiles from the context. There were 13 counted with a weight of 1.8 kg. Coin 2008-46 was possibly mislabeled in the field and most likely goes with the context above, 5222. It was impossible to check the elevation because it was from the sieve. The red to the N seems to be inclusions in the darker soil, making it all part of the same context. This seems to be a foundation trench except the cutting for the trench ends halfway up the N most block in Wall 5218. Context 5221 was stopped because the foundation trench cut in and the redder soil to the N needed to be explored. | |
