Description:   Top slope of the context is moderate down to the E. The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We start taking context 5273 as the erosional fill along the wet scarp, south of Wall 5216. As we take this, we notice that the soil to the east of it is also softer where 5211 was dug. Therefore, we continue to the east taking the looser soil. This may be associated with the foundation trench along the south face of Wall 5216. We continue taking the looser, darker soil. There seems to be harder lighter soil to the west. The soil we come down on in the east is still darker and looser.
Tiles: 5.5kg, 22 sherds
The harder soil at the west appears to be at a similar level to the ledge along the west scarp left by Context 5177. It also appears that the fill of debris in the area could be sitting on this surface.
Revised Interpretations
The Isthmus of soil connected to Wall 5216 turns out to be part of the foundation trench.
