Description:   The soil color is dark yellowish red. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Is this a late roman or undated medieval? There are 2 or three contaminations from the construction trench for the ottoman house.
We are taking context 5326. This was an isthmus of soil between Wall 5216 and the north face of the scarp to the south. This appeared to be one bigh incusion of the clayer fill of the foundation trench, which was whiter. The clay clump had fewer inclusions. This is taken with what was below, softer soil with many inclusions. This seems to come off of the cut for this trench. Within this fill were pierces of mud brick. At this poin, the foundation trench appears to go under Wall 5218. However, upon futher inspection, th fil below Wall 5218 has many more tiles, making it a fill associated with Wall 5218. We had determined that wall 5218 is earlier than Wall 5216. Therefore, the new fill under Wall 5218 should be earlier and not contaminate the fill of the foundation trench. We come down on a light soil with less inclusions and stop here. The new soil seems to be associated with the foundation trench, but it is different. Therefore, we continue to take the soil in the cut as a new context.
