Notes: | Dimensions: L 1.50, W 0.63, H 0.50 Size of materials: dressed limestone: L 0.30, W 0.22, H 0.15; rough limestone: L 0.20, W 0.15, H 0.10; unworked L 0.15, W 0.15, H 0.07; tiles L 0.10 Oriented N-S Part of what was referred to as W21 in late 2007 and 2008. This wall continues the line of W5347 & W5345 but has smooth unworked stones (medium to large) and more tiles. Also, at one point two large limestones are placed vertically parallel and the are between filled - this technique does not occur to the south. Therefore, this section receives a different number. This wall goes over the north face of the corner of W5344 and is therefore later. We could not tell what happens to the south face of W5344, so this wall (W5346) may have two different phases. We believe the following happened: some action cut W5345. Ashlars were put in place and small cobbles (ashlar and cobble section = W5347) were used with a vertical tile to make a snug fit with the southernmost stone of W 5346, part of an earlier phase but reused and still in situ. The foundation trench for W5344 and W5344 itself were made. Repair/reconstruction of the north portion of W5346 covered the north face of W5344. | |
