Notes:   Structure context 540 is a NS wall that extends from the robbing trench 451 in the south to the scarp from the 1960's excavations in the north. The upper courses of th wall were robbed out (rt fill 52). It is possible that the wall 540 onc abutted or bonded with the EW wall 366, but the interface between these wall is not preserved. The wall 540 is abutted to the west by the clay floor 576 which in turn also abuts the pier 573 demostrating a phase of contemporary use for these two features. The wall 540. however, is earlier than the pier as an earlier clay floor revealed by the excavation of the floor 576 abuts the wall 540, but is cut by the foundation trench for the pier 573.
