Notes:   Since we have excavated part of a possible foundation trench or failed robbing trench for 5519 (we excavated the eastern end). We are scraping back the scarp of the martyr left by the 1960s excavation in order to see if we have more of the cut for the foundation trench started in basket 5520 (cut 5521). Panos found no trace of a further cut, but did take down some of the scarp to the level of a floor even with the bottom od cut 5521. Panos believes that the dirt he cut through is all the same and can be taken in one pass. First we will take off only the top layer, see if it reveals a foundation trench for wall 5483, then we will consider taking down the remaining dirt to the level of the newly revealed floor. Guy Sanders hypothesizes that this floor level is contemporary with the exposed floor to the north of robbing trench 5511 (the robbing trench for wall 5519).
