Description:   The soil color is light pinkish brown. The soil compaction is loose. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Deposit context 554 is the second layer of fill under floor 550. The floor abutted structure 452 to the south and wall 332 to the west. Numerous carbon inclusions were noted so that we decided to send a sample in order to note carbonized botanicals. The color of dirt varied through the context. Lower in the context the soil was a mix of red and black, while at the top of the context the soil was light pinkish brown. But, the consistency and inclusions have been the same throughout the deposit. Several pieces of ceramic in the soil joined, and had been broken before time of excavation. The context revealed a sloping red deposit.
