| Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark greyish brown. The soil compaction is soft. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand. | |
| Notes: | When stratum III of the 1960s excavation martyr (5538) was removed this possible cut in the next stratum of the martyr was revealed. It is bordered on the north by cut 5522 and on the east by wall 5483 to form a triangle with these two features. It appears as if this cut was cut by 5522 and our current working theory is that these are two separate attempts at robbing trenches which failed when the big block of eall 5519 proved to be too big. Once Panos reached the bottom of thos layer it was clear that the fill actually continues under the next stratum of the martyr, which now indicates that this may not be a cut after all but yet another stratum of the martyr. It will be clearer once we take down the stratum now covering the rest of this fill (5538). | |
