Description:   Structure materials: limestone. Material size: 0.65 x 0.45 x 0.45. Material finish: squared. Material construction: inderterminate. Material bonding: indeterminate. Features: threshold, door cutting.
Notes:   Masonry style and bonding material is indeterminate because structure is only one block. The stone is identified as a threshold because of rectangular cutting (0.15 x 0.30 x 0.03 depth). The western edge of this rectangular cutting is aligned with the eastern edge of three western stones of wall phase 5647 (i.e. the three stones that aren't the threshold stone). Therefore this threshold may have been used in association with these three stones of 5647 and the threshold block of 5647 would then be a later phase. This threshold block (5670) was not revealed until the removal of of the threshold of 5647 so we were unable to observe how the four floors (5632, 5642, 5650, 5659) relate this threshold. Floor 5642 may have been in association with this floor because the top elevation was only .04 m higher than the top elevation of threshold on its southern side (the threshold block tiles, so that the northern side is 0.06 m higher than the southern side which meets the floor). Both thresholds 5647 and 5670 are further west than earlier thresholds and appear to be the result of moving the location of the door to the west, which involved robbing out stones to the west of threshold 5648 (robbing trench 5636) to make room for the new door.
Update, 05/04/09: SL, MH, KS: After we removed the threshold 5647, we observed that threshold 5670 was actually constructed at a contemporary phase with 5631; the stones are similarly worked and of the same height. Both threshold foundation 6238 and wall 5631 upper foundation 6233 will be excavated separately.
