Description:   Top slope of the context is slight down to the N. The soil color is light greyish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is sandy silt. Structure materials: fi.
Notes:   We are excavating this fill level with the hope of finding the floor related to the square feature (5888) that was revealed by 5860. It is unknown what this roof tile and rough cut stone platform is, but it was suggested by Guy Sanders that it might be a fireplace foundation.
As we excavated, west of 5888 we revealed a few roof tiles embedded in the surface below 5872. On the surface revealed by 5872, a roof tile (.17m length) sticks up .04m from the surface. It is difficult to imagine walking on this surface with an embedded roof tile on its edge.
There appears to be a division of the surface revealed by 5872. If you follow the line created by the southern edge of the feature to the west, it divides the floor into north and south sections. The northern section is hard, and the southern is firm with many more roof tiles and gravel which appears sporadically througout this southern section.
