Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is well sorted. It is sandy silt. Structure materials: 3 large limestone blocks, one with a square cutting and apparently in secondary use, smaller fieldstones, tile fragments and earth.. Material size: .55 x .50 x .21, .18 x .34 x .22, .75 x .50 x .32. Material finish: Two squared, one roughly hewn. Material construction: Coursed. Material bonding: None apparent. Features: 10x10cm square cutting on NE corner of W block..
Notes:   This unit is a threshold, measuring 0.53m wide by 1.90m long, located under later Wall 10076. 5919 is constructed of roughly hewn gray limestone blocks, significantly less-weathered and of a different material than the stones of 5916.
We think it is a threshold because on either side of it, to the west and east, there are cobble foundations at a lower elevation, that seem to have supported larger squared blocks abutting those that compose 5919, that in turn could have supported piers or an arch. To the west the blocks above the cobble foundations are not quite as large or squared and they are at a slightly lower elevation. 5916, two large blocks laid on this section as part of a later wall may have disturbed this part of the pier. The cobbles to the west are also less ordered than the clearly-coursed cobbles to the east. Additionally, on the east of 5919, there are large roughly hewn stone blocks of the same construction as 5919 (10077) that are supported by the cobble foundation.
