Description:   The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 5981 is large leveling fill with large quantities of tile fragments covering much of the northern and eastern part of room north of courtyard of Byzantine house.
Tiles are being set aside in buckets to determine whether many of the fragments fit together indicating a roof collapse. At the moment this hypothesis does not seem likely, since the context does not cover the entire room, but ca. 75% of total area. Also, all of the tiles are not uniform in appearance, some of them being light, grayish yellow, while most of them being dark yellowish red.
