Notes: | Context 6018 is a circular pit in the corner of room north of courtyard of Byzantine house. Identified during removal of context 6015. Cuts into surface also revealed by removal of context 6015. Decided to remove this pit next and it was 100% dry-sieved. Its associated cut is context 6019. Context 6018 abuts wall 5562 to north and removal of this context revealed a surface with inclusions such as tile. Decision made to 100% dry sieve this context. Soil is dark reddish brown clayey silt with 10% inclusions (primarily ceramic sherds and stones). A date for this context would give insight into construction history of this room. | |
