Description:   The soil color is light brownish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   Floor 6035 was discovered upon removal of floor 6013 and ashy layer 6017. We were excavating a balk left as a martyr by the 1960s excavations on the S side of foundation 5552 in order to phase the walls in the area and establish the chronological relationship of this balk to the balks on the N side of foundation 5552 and the E of wall 5965. At this point, we have taken this balk far below the levels of the soil to the E, so we will excavate that before proceeding here. This record has been created for ease of reference.
13/4/09 DWL: We are now ready to excavate the floor. Because wall 6025 protrudes through the floor, we are going to excavate the floor in two parts to minimize contamination Henceforth 6035 will refer only to the southern part of the floor. Panos the pickman has elected to use only the trigon for fear that wall 6025 may suddenly collapese if too much soil is removed. We are being delicate. This part of the floor is very small, and not much material came out of it, but eh northern part (=floor 6088) will provide useful comparanda.
