Description:   The soil color is dark reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   We are excavating 6166, a [05/01/09 FILL FOR] cut [6266], either a robbing or foundation trench. We are excavating this context now because it seems to be later than 6164 and 6168. The context revealed by this excavation contains several large well formed purposefully placed blocks which seem to be part of an earlier wall running north-south [#6190]. After the removal of the rubble wall directly north of it (6172), it will be determined whether or not it joins up with the wall exposed under 5552 (6120) which runs east-west. It should be noted that these worked stones are different from the smaller unworked cobbles directly to the south (6123), currently interpreted as the foundations for a pier construction.
