Description:   Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is dark pinkish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is sandy silt.
Notes:   We decided to open fill 6274 because it differed from the fill directly above it, 6255, in size and number of inclusions. 6274 included many more large cobbles and is also pinker and browner than the area around it.
6274 is filling cut 6273, which appears to be a foundation trench that was cut by robbing trench (6254). Both fills 6274 and 6255 seem to be related to the robbing action (cut 6254). We believe that we are encountering more cobbles in 6274 because we might be reaching the bottom extent of the robbing action and encountering foundation material.
Along the southern end of the fill area (south edge of cut 6273) we encountered six small boulders in situ, confirming that this was a foundation robbed by the later cutting action of 6254. Those stones were given the number 6279.
