Description:   The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   Context 6314 is a foundation trench running E-W along the northern side of wall 5285. It was revealed for its full extent by removal of contexts 6311 and 6316. It was noted at a higher elevation in its western end than most of the eastern extent suggesting it was either missed at a higher elevation or was dug at different heights during original construction because of a difference in floor level at that time. The latter explanation may be more accurate.
Soil is dark yellowish brown clayey silt with approximately 25% inclusions. Decision made to dry sieve the entire context. Dating this foundation trench should help place the building in the construction history of the site. This foundation trench cuts the foundation trench 6322 for wall 6313, which runs N-S and has been partially robbed out. This indicates that wall 5285 is later than wall 6313, and that wall 6313 was already robbed out when wall 5285 built. Foundation trench 6314 stops in the west when it reaches a block of N-S wall 6319 which is mostly robbed out and must be earlier than wall 5285.
