| Description: | The soil color is dark yellowish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | Context 6335 is a foundation trench for a pier block (6337) located at se edge of wall 6228 immediately sw of coutyard of Byzantine house. Associated cut is 6336. Another such pier block (6319) is located to the south and appears to be contemporary since its foundation trench (6331) cuts same surface as 6335. Soil is dark yellowish brown clayey silt with approximately 10% inclusions (plant material, stones, ceramics). Removal of context 6335 showed that pier 6337 much deeper than first expected. Some the soil was on top of low point of wall 6228 suggesting that wall is earlier. This trench particularly deep on its east side Two coins (2009-83, 84) found during excavation of this context. Possible also that a short eastern extension of wall 6228, but unsure at this time. | |
