| Description: | Top slope of the context is level. The soil color is light greenish grey. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt. | |
| Notes: | 6412 was opened after 6405 had been dug to for approximately 0.47 m. The context was changed both because we have been taking approximately 0.20 to 0.30 passes due to well depth, and because the field supervisor noticed more small organic remains in the dry sieve (namely, fish scales). There was no other noticeable change in the soil composition. The soil is a greenish grey (in contrast to the extreme ash shite of higher contexts) and included sherds, iron nails, glass, file fragments, bone, fish scales (mostly small and white and some larger and yellow), some egg shells and coins. There were quite a few more shells than in the previous contexts as well. The number of cobbles and boulders increased very slightly. 6412 was closed after it had been taken down approximately 0.60, a slightly larger pass than planned. | |
