Description:   The soil color is light yellowish brown. The soil compaction is compact. The soil is moderately sorted. It is clayey silt.
Notes:   We cleaned the area around a circular pit that was thought to be a pithos or well. During cleaning that reavealed glass and bones, a well head became more clear. Opening discovered at start of 2012 season during cleaning when workman stepped on center, breaking through upper crust of deposit covering well. Cleaning conducted to further define semicircle of large cobbles interpreted as well head. No stones were preserved around opening on S or W sides of opening. Soil around well appears darker, 40% inclusions.
Glass bead found similar to MF 6949d (Corinth 12 #2491). It's clear, colorless w/ green tinge, pear shaped in outline, flattened, pierced length-wise.
14 June 2012: As corrected in our notes by the time we recorded well 742, the well was found during excavation of context 475 in 2009, beneath context 474 (Frankish, 13th c.) when a workman stepped on it, breaking through the upper layer of deposit which had sealed the opening. - RM
