Notes:   This context has not yet been excavated, so we can't say much about it. It appears to run from around N 1007.4, under wall 420 and continues to the scarp at the north end of our site. It has as its western boundary wall 540 and was cut into by deposit 649. The context was initially created after excavation of 649 revealed a mug and candle holder in the side of the baulk, thus the name of the context. Upon further review, it was felt that the top layer of this baulk is the one to which 644 should properly be assigned, while the layer to which the mug and candle holder belonged was a separate one, which was given the context number 702. More information will be recorded upon excavation of 644.
