Stratum:   Soil is light reddish brown silty sand with approx. 30% inclusions (ceramics, stones, plant material, charcoal, none).
Description:   The soil color is light reddish brown. The soil compaction is firm. The soil is poorly sorted. It is silty sand.
Notes:   Context 6467 is a surface which may be a floor of compact earth which covers most of the northern part of the room immediately west of the courtyard of the Byz. House. This is currently the latest surface in the room so it is necessary to excavate at this point. Decision was also made to take two samples for water flotation.
Floor 6467 was partially overlaid by another compact earth floor (6465) which seems to be the consistent floor type for this room in the Frankish period. The northeast part of context 6467 has a crack running through next to a pit dug in the 1960s (bothros 9, NB 235, p.19). This crack was caused by root action.
Soil is light reddish brown silty sand with approx. 30% inclusions (ceramics, stones, plant material, charcoal, none). Floor 6467 is truncated in west by deposit 6218 (cut 6219), in the north by bothros 9 and in the south by another 1960s pit.
Removal of context 6467 revealed another surface of compact earth as well as a cut on the northwest side of the south pit. In the center of the room on the eastern side a small round cut for a post-hole was identified.
As removal continued this context became relatively deep (and filled with Roman pottery). It's possible that 6467 may in fact represent a deep fill which have been failry common in this room.
